A Southern Girl’s View… Churchill Downs | Kentucky Travel Photographer

Today marks the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby.   A horse race born out of tradition and one where all the “it” people come to be seen.   However, the Derby is not just about the people and the hats but about the most spectacular horses in the country.   The Derby is just one part of the elusive Triple Crown, but the most known.

During my summer road trip in 2010, I stopped in Louisville and toured Churchill Downs.  [check out Lucy’s perspective]   It was a place I had known about since I was a child.  I still remember the year that Spectacular Bid won…  And while I was not alive to see Secretariat race, he is a horse that I also know well.   Horse legends are born on these track, but sadly sometimes they end of that very same track.
